Q: What are all these accounts?
A: There are three types of accounts. Facility
Accounts, which lets you use the facilities on campus. E-mail accounts,
which you need to send and receieve e-mail. And, Home-IP accounts, which
allows you to connect to the Internet from home.
Q: Can you tell me more about the facility
accounts?
A: Sure. To use the facilities, you must be a registered student or UCB staff, certain people may still qualify. The account is free, but there is a ten
dollar fee for students (which is charged to your CARS account) if you wish to print.
You will receive two hundred sheet with a fifty sheet buffer for
mistakes. "Leftover" paper is not rolled over to the next semester, and
there is no refund.
Q: How do I get an e-mail or Home-IP
account?
A: Simply click on this link and follow the
instructions.
Q: Okay I got my Home-IP account, but now
what?
A: Now you need CAB, the Connecting at Berkeley CD.
It is available for sale at the SCCS. If you do not wish to purchase the CD and have configure your dial-up networking properly, you can download some of the same Internet applications and useful software for either the Mac or
PC.
Q: I forgot my password, what do I do now?
A: Depends, which account is the password for?
If it's your facility accounts, we can change it at our facilities. But,
if it's your e-mail, Home-IP or Bear Facts password, you'll need to go to
User & Account Services located at 206 Evans, M-F 10 am to 4 pm. You'll need to bring a
photo ID.
Q: Do you offer any classes on computers?
A: Yes we do. Just click on the Walk-In Classes link on
the left side of this page.
Q: Where can I find a scanner?
A: You can find two of them at MMF. Due to high demand and low
supply, you might need to sign up for an appointment to use them.
You can only do that at MMF.
