Reports To: IST-Client Services W&MF Supervisors

Pay Rate: $9.46

Hours: 12-18 per week


Job Description

This position serves as a front-line computer consultant to support the Berkeley campus community in the general access and instructional microcomputer facilities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • You MUST be a UC Berkeley student
  • Must have good customer service skills
  • Must have a basic understanding of Macintosh and Windows computers and their respective operating systems.
  • Must have a basic knowledge in common application, networking, and email software such as MS Word, MS Excel, Internet Explorer , Eudora, or Unix mail
  • Must be able to meet the percentage of available requirements for a work schedule and work a minimum of 12 hours a week.

Job Duties:
  • Monitor access to the microcomputer facilities.
  • Provide helpful and courteous assistance to clients on the computer equipment and software supported in the facilities.
  • Consult and refer client to other facilities and services.
  • Enforce and comply with facility and university policies.
  • Maintain equipment, supplies and work space.
  • Attend required staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Help provide coverage support for main reception areas of IST offices at 2195 Hearst, Banway, and Shattuck offices

Pay title and Pay Rate:
  • Junior Consultant, $9.46/hour with advancement opportunities.

Work Schedule:
  • Minimum of 12 hours a week and a maximium of 19 hours a week (full time student).
  • Paid mandatory monthly meeting.
  • Flexible scheduling (which depends on availability).
